About Us
Meet Erik Michael
Erik Michael is a remarkable individual who has faced unique challenges since birth. At the age of 21, he has navigated life with grace and resilience, despite being born with a complex congenital heart defect and 22q Syndrome. Erik also embraces the world with nonverbal autism and cognitive impairments. His heart is drawn to the world of transportation, particularly school buses and trains of all kinds. Thomas the Tank Engine holds a special place in his heart, bringing him endless joy. Erik's journey is one of dependence on support, as he will always require assistance for activities of daily living. It is for this reason that Home for Erik Inc. was established, not only to provide low cost, independent supportive housing for him but also to extend that care to other adults facing similar challenges. Erik's story is a testament to the power of love, dedication, and the importance of creating inclusive communities.
Meet Kelly Masterson
A devoted mother to Erik and founder of Home for Erik Inc. Inspired by the remarkable support my son received from his therapy team over the years, I decided to pursue a college education later in life, ultimately becoming an occupational therapy practitioner. My journey in this field has been incredibly fulfilling. Having experienced the challenges of raising a special needs child firsthand and pondering the future for our children as adults, I am on a mission. My goal is to establish low cost, independent supportive housing that offers more than just a roof over one's head. It's about fostering a sense of community, promoting inclusion, organizing enjoyable activities, and providing purpose for all participants, including their families and guardians. This is my dedication to making a difference in the lives of individuals like Erik and their loved ones.
Home for Erik Inc. is a non-profit pending 501c3 Status. EIN# 93-2612662
